MANSFIELD, TEXAS
Includes a complimentary lunch, course completion certificate, and 7 eligible credit hours.
The First Responders Mental Health Alliance™ in partnership with Minding the Badge™ is inviting you to attend a one day training event that promises a unique experience that focuses less on the problems and more on the solutions regarding first responder mental health. Together we are rolling out new curriculum never covered until now and packaged in a crash course called Total Wellness & Resiliency.
A ONE DAY UNFORGETTABLE OUTSIDE THE BOX EXPERIENCE
Total Wellness & Resiliency will host several guest speakers providing relevant education covering such topics as first responder marital advice, trends in mental health, and even legal protections every first responder should have in place. Participants will also get a chance to present questions for expert advice that pertain to their specific needs.
Participants will be offered a certificate of completion in Mental Wellness & Resiliency, that includes 7 eligible credit hours. A complimentary luncheon will also be provided, and include a celebrity guest speaker. We will even close the day with some door prize giveaways as a show of gratitude for your public service.
PRESENTING AN INNOVATIVE AND IN DEMAND CURRICULUM
Total Wellness & Resiliency is an evidence based scientifically supported curriculum oriented towards a total wellness of mental, physical, and spiritual health presented on a foundation of preemptive resiliency that shifts from the traditional focus of damage control to one of damage prevention.
The course begins with short foundational primers on the brain and nervous system with relation to the impact of the job, such as neuroplasticity, amygdala hijack, PTS vs. PTSD, and moral injury. We then cover new trends of preemptive intervention in public safety with relation to marital resiliency, legal resiliency, and suicide resiliency.
COVERING A DIVERSE SELECTION OF IMPORTANT TOPICS
Total Wellness & Resiliency ventures into new frontiers with modules covering topical teachings uncommon to many wellness training available in public safety today. These include the following:
MENTAL RESILIENCY
Through the innovative research uncovered in Neuroplasticity, we cover the basics of what is going on in the brain during stress or trauma, its aftermath of interference, and how we can turn the tables in the battle of our minds to gain leverage through the discipline of resiliency by way of exercises that improve self-awareness and self-regulation. You can visit this section of our website to learn more.
PHYSICAL RESILIENCY
This section examines small adjustments that make big changes to improving physical wellness. This includes factors first responders tend to be unfamiliar with, such as overexposure to RF frequencies, ideal sleep cycles, strategic use of sunlight, household toxins, as well as common nutritional deficiencies that directly effect mental health and how to easily correct them with little impact on budget. This section also addresses addiction resiliency and resolution. You can visit this section of our website to learn more.
SPIRITUAL RESILIENCY
The best research on mental health directly links its quality to matters of spirituality. No matter one's religious beliefs, we each face spiritual questions related to the battles we face in our minds and in our lives. We cover key concepts to make this journey a healthier one by asking better questions related to grief, shame, anger, and depression in relation to a higher power. We also address how spiritual context relates to matters of post-trauma, suicide, and moral injury. You can visit this section of our website to learn more.
LEGAL RESILIENCY
Legal cases against first responders has increased each year since 2000. Firefighters faced only 15 cases in 2000, and in 2025 there are already 78. Police officers faced 150 cases in 2000, and are already facing 400 in 2025. Legal Resiliency covers the potential legal risks most common to first responders and how to avoid them; however, the course also covers important legal protections for the spouse and family of first responders in the event of death or disability, which most are unaware of. This section is taught by trial attorney Roger Heath, of McCurdy/Heath, who have represented countless first responders and their departments, but also share a personal passion of having first responder family members.
EMOTIONAL RESILIENCY
Many of the world's leading experts like Bessel van der Kolk and Daniel Goleman have discussed the important role of emotional intelligence as being a significant factor related to trauma and anger management. This section provides the emotional resiliency needed to make lasting improvements and avoid career effecting consequences. You can visit this section of our website to learn more.
MARITAL RESILIENCY
A direct connection between first responder mental health and relationship satisfaction is confirmed in an abundance of credible research studies, concluding that, the better your marriage, the better your mental health, and the better your mental health, the better your marriage; however, very few public safety agencies cover this important topic. The training includes interactive couples exercises from the Gottman Institute that first responders can use with their spouse. You can visit this section of our website to learn more.
SUICIDE RESILIENCY
Beyond mere suicide awareness, this important training covers methods we can practice in the workplace, in peer-to-peer encounters, or independently with ourselves that are proven to reduce the components that instigate suicide ideology and suicide attempts. It is based upon the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide, which is the most empirically tested study ever done on why people attempt suicide. The section doesn't tap dance around questions of intervention, but rather tackles them directly with specific strategies and real world examples of their use. You can

EXTENDED RESOURCES THAT GO BEYOND THE TRAINING
Participants will be provided free access to additional content that includes reference charts, situational simulation guides, recommended books and apps, clinical and non-clinical resource lists, and additional research and media support.
